Ms. Li Jia

Profile: Lecturer at the School of Business, Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology (NUIST). In 2013, she participated in a one-year double degree program at Korea University, before completing her Master’s degree at the Graduate School of International Cooperation Studies, Kobe University in 2014.

Q1: What do you do in your current role?
In my current role, I deliver courses in Microeconomics and Econometrics to both international and domestic students. I also conduct original studies and publish in peer-reviewed journals such as World Development and Health Economics. Additionally, I guide students to participate in market research and data analysis competitions.

Q2: What has been the most memorable experience in your current work?
One of the most memorable experiences in my current work was guiding international student teams to win the National First Prize in the Market Research and Data Analysis Competition in 2025.

Q3: Why you wanted to pursue this career?
I chose to pursue my academic career at NUIST due to the exceptional alignment between my research interests and the university’s world-class expertise. My work examines the socioeconomic impacts of climate change in Africa, and NUIST’s preeminent position in atmospheric science offers unparalleled opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration, which is crucial for addressing such complex global challenges.

Q4: What has been your most memorable experience in the CAMPUS Asia Program?
One of the best parts of that project was the people. Even though it was just a year, we became real friends and still keep in touch regularly. I recall a vivid moment in our diverse team with Chinese, Japanese, and Korean members. When English reached its limits, we improvised a unique relay: the Korean student explained in Korean to a Chinese teammate who knew Korean, who then translated it to me in Chinese, and I finally conveyed the message in Japanese to our Japanese member. It was a testament to our collective determination to communicate and collaborate.

Q5: How learning from the CAMPUS Asia Program has benefited your current work?
My year in Korea University significantly enhanced my academic English proficiency through intensive reading and writing, while coursework in international politics expanded my perspective beyond my core Economics training from Kobe University. This interdisciplinary foundation has been instrumental in broadening the scope of my subsequent research.
