Short-term Study

Kobe University to th Chulalongkorn University

Graduate School of Health Sciences

Ms. KOSUI Yuka

I had the opportunity to study at Chulalongkorn University for three months. Since the courses were primarily conducted in Thai, I sometimes found it challenging to fully grasp the content. However, I received special English versions of the lecture notes, and whenever I encountered difficulties, my classmates kindly explained the material to me in English. Thanks to this support, I was able to overcome the language barrier and gain a deeper understanding of the classes. In addition, My advisor faculty also arranged visits to various places such as the Thai Ministry of Public Health and home-visit nursing stations according to my research interests. Visiting these sites allowed me to hear directly from local nurses and staff, giving me a deeper insight into the realities of healthcare and nursing care in Thailand. Through these experiences, I realized the differences between the healthcare and nursing care systems in Japan and Thailand, also learned about culturally considerate support and the importance of multicultural diversity in community-based integrated care systems.  I hope to make use of what I’ve learned there in my own research moving forward.

When I had trouble, I was able to get support from my academic advisor, classmates, and friends, which allowed me to enjoy my study abroad experience with peace of mind. I also had the valuable opportunity to interact with my classmates and exchange students who had come to Japan, which deepened my understanding of different cultures.
