Double Degree

Kobe University to Fudan University

GSICS

Mr. KOIKE Takumi

From August 2023 to June 2024, I studied at Fudan University’s School of International Relations and Public Affairs (SIRPA) as a double-degree student. Within the program, I mainly took courses on research methodology and public policy. Fudan University requires four thesis defenses for master’s students: Proposal Defense in late September, Pre-Defense in early March, Blind Review in mid-March, and Final Defense in late May. Passing all defenses is not easy, but professors kindly provided us with valuable feedback after each defense. I mainly spent my time during my study abroad to revise my thesis based on those comments to prepare for the upcoming defense. Looking back, these tasks were meaningful opportunities to significantly improve my research skills.

Furthermore, another attractive aspect of studying abroad through the Campus Asia Program is the opportunity to interact with Campus Asia students who belong to other universities. For example, at the Campus Asia Plus Symposium, jointly organized by Kobe University, Fudan University, and Korea University, students had the chance to present their research progress and engage with professors and students through the research. Additionally, when I participated in a study tour to Peking University, I interacted with Campus Asia students studying there. Through this program, I was able to enhance my research abilities and connect with people from diverse backgrounds, making this year an extremely meaningful experience for my life.
