研究の興味

 生物が関わる自然現象を分子レベルから生態系レベルまで階層横断的に理解することを目指します。森林の源頭域から河川を通じて、湖沼や海洋沿岸に至る流域を広く対象として、水生生物の進化・生態・生活史に関する研究や生物多様性と生態系機能の関係を解明する研究に取り組んでいます。多様性は、生物のみならず研究にも必要と考えます。研究室の個々のメンバーが多様な視点や手法を用いてアプローチすることで生物多様性や生態系への理解が深まると期待されます。また、私は現場主義をモットーとします。現場で起こっていることを観察し、そこで得られる直感を大切にします。皆さん、まずはフィールドに出かけましょう!
  理学は基礎的な学問ですが、異分野の研究者と連携したり、社会と協働したりすることによって、科学的な知見を社会に役立てることもできます。集水域の人間活動は、その下流域の生物多様性や生態系に直接的な影響を及ぼします。他方、肥大化する社会・経済活動は、グローバルな環境変動を介して生物多様性や生態系に広域的な影響も及ぼします。人と自然の相互作用環に対する理解を深め、生物多様性の保全や生態系の再生にも積極的に取り組みたいと思います。
