On July 9, 2026, the International Seminar on Global Governance for Human Security, co-organized by the Global Network Program, was held in a hybrid format.

The seminar welcomed Dr. Shiro Nakata, Senior Economist in the World Bank’s Education Global Practice. Under the theme “Career Seminar at the World Bank,” Dr. Nakata delivered a lecture on the World Bank’s work in the education sector and career development in international organizations. Drawing on his professional experience, he introduced the World Bank’s role in supporting education policies and human capital development in different countries, as well as the responsibilities of economists working on education projects. He also explained the expertise, practical experience, and communication skills required in the field of international development.

A total of 44 students, faculty, and staff members participated in the seminar, with 33 attending in person and 11 joining online. The question-and-answer session featured active discussions from diverse perspectives, including career pathways to the World Bank, the skills and experience required for recruitment, the relationship between graduate-level research and professional work in international organizations, and future challenges in the education sector. The seminar offered a valuable opportunity to deepen participants’ understanding of education development work at the World Bank and to reflect on the relationship between human capital and societal resilience, as well as career development in international organizations.
