On May 20, 2026, the International Seminar on Global Governance for Human Security, co-organized by the Global Network Program, was held in a hybrid format.

The seminar welcomed Professor Nathan Murata, Dean of the College of Education at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. Under the theme “Grant Writing,” Professor Murata discussed the types and characteristics of research grants, the use of research funds, the basic structure of competitive grant proposals, and effective ways to develop research plans. The lecture highlighted the importance of clearly defining research problems and presenting research objectives, methods, and expected outcomes in a logical and concise manner.

A total of 62 students, faculty, and staff members participated in the seminar, with 43 attending in person and 19 joining online. During the question-and-answer session, participants raised questions from diverse perspectives, including key points in preparing grant applications, budget planning, and the evaluation of research funding. The seminar provided participants with a valuable opportunity to deepen their understanding of research grants and competitive funding applications and to apply this knowledge to their future research activities.
