GSICS

Ms. Choummala Vanmanivong

I studied at GSICS from October 2024 to March 2025. I can proudly say that I have completed nine classes during this study abroad program, and I am incredibly grateful for all the knowledge and experience I have gained. In these classes, I studied topics such as Official Development Assistance (ODA), the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and data analysis. I have also gained insights into risk management, which has been helpful in preparing for disaster risks in daily life. Additionally, I have deepened my understanding of human capital, particularly regarding skills and education.

Language barriers could sometimes feel daunting, and I often found that my learning pace was slower than I would have liked. I also struggled to understand technical terms in my courses. Whenever I faced difficulties, I could rely on professors and the university staffs for guidance. My friends and fellow students were also incredibly supportive, offering helpful advice on both academic and personal matters. My tutors and classmates were incredibly helpful in clarifying difficult topics, and I frequently sought guidance from my professors, which was instrumental in my progress. I was truly pleased with the strong support network available to me, which encouraged me to grow both academically and personally. Additionally, I’ve become more independent, adaptable, and open-minded, which I believe will benefit me in my future endeavors.

I also had an opportunity to visit Himeji Castle and enjoy Japanese sake during my stay. Moreover, the cultural exchange with people from various countries was very memorable and made this study abroad experience even more enriching and meaningful.
