Ion beam science
Tandem Electrostatic accelerator 5SDH2
Fukae Campus
Using the Tandem accelerator, I can work from almost all stable isotopes except proton, He, and noble gases. We can do:
(1) Elemental analysis: Rutherford backscattering spectroscopy (RBS), elastic recoil detection analysis (ERDA), nuclear reaction analysis (NRA), particle excitation X-ray analysis (PIXE), etc.
(2) Material surface modification / functional material creation e.g. Http://www.research.kobe-u.ac.jp/fmsc-pbe/www/theme.html#th4
(3) Neutron utilization experiment: This machine can generate neutrons of about 100 million neutrons / s.
to come. It is one of the advantages of this facility that neutron utilization experiments can be performed, because the majority of similar devices at other institutions cannot generate neutrons.
(4) Through these, it becomes a powerful experimental instrument in an extremely wide range of fields such as nuclear, atomic and condensed matter physics, beam science, radiation chemistry, material engineering, electronic engineering, nuclear engineering, earth science, archeology, biology, environmental science, etc.
Yuichi Furuyama of the Ion Beam Science Group also serves as the Director of the Research Infrastructure Center (accelerator department), which is a joint infrastructure within the university.
