Ocean Safety Technology

In this field, safety of ships or offshore structures, evaluation of ocean environment, energy saving technology, offshore renewable energy, offshore resources are studied using theoretical computations and field experiments from viewpoint of marine transportation and ocean development.

Kobe University - Fukae Campus

Sea dominates more than 70% of the earth, and cargos more than 10 billion tons have been transported all over the world. There are still lots of unknown factors about the weather condition in oceans, and they could influence to ship safety and operations so much. Although sea routes used to be concentrated in the Northern Hemisphere, they will be diversified into all over the world, including the Southern Hemisphere. Operational situations have been monitoring for cargo ships in our laboratory to analyze ship motions, added resistance, speed loss, variation of engine load, CO2 emission, etc. It enables to contribute the lowering of uncertainty of weather forecasting as the new era optimal ship routing.
