Program for Careers in Risk Management Experts in East Asia

The Great East Japan Earthquake that occurred on March 11, 2011 highlighted the importance of international cooperation and risk management in the event of disasters. In addition to natural disaster risks, there are other “risks” in the world, such as social risk on account of man-made disasters and economic instability. This program aims at developing a center to train graduate students to become experts in managing the various risks in the context of globalization and international relationships in East Asia. The program is supported by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports and Science and Technology’s (MEXT)“Re-Inventing Japan Project.”

A consortium will be formed through this program by Kobe University Graduate School of International Cooperation Studies, China’s Fudan University School of International Relations and Public Affairs, and South Korea’s Korea University Graduate School of International Studies. This consortium aims to offer cooperative education programs to train “risk management experts” working in an international capacity.
