研究の興味

 生き物の体は、多様な細胞から成り立っています。そこには、まるで人間の社会のように様々な機能に特化した細胞が秩序立って存在し、それぞれがコミュニケーションをとりながら個体を維持しています。細胞がどうやって自らの運命を決めていくのかは、まだ解明されていない部分も多く、生物発生学の非常に興味深いトピックの1つです。とりわけ植物の細胞は、挿し木や接ぎ木に代表されるように、かなり自在に運命を変えることができます。このような植物細胞の柔軟かつ堅固な運命決定機構にせまるため、維管束を構成する多様な細胞に着目をしています。私たちの研究室で新規に開発した維管束細胞の分化誘導系「VISUAL」という手法をベースに、分子生物学・遺伝学・情報生物学・1細胞解析など最新の手法を取り入れ、構成生物学的な観点から研究を展開しています。
